Who is the creator of this website?
My name is Vernon Lee and I reside
in Singapore. I am an information professional by training and
work as a manager in the legal industry.
Why did you create this website?
My aim is simple. To create a website where everyone interested
or affected by the SARS epidemic could get information on the
virus. I hope that this website can be a one stop SARS information
website for many. Of course, there are also many news and other
information websites broadcasting daily updates on the virus,
and I have included links to them so that you will be able to
find them easily and conveniently.
What do you get out of this website?
Basically, I get the satisfaction providing you with the information
that you need, in the fastest possible time and in the easiest
possible manner. I do not get paid anything. I bear all costs
out of my own pocket, but you are welcome to donate to help with
the upkeep of this website. You can click on the "Make
a Donation" button on the left column to do so. I will
be very grateful if you do. I use Paypal, so you can be assurred
of the security and confidentiality of your donation. However,
should you feel that you need to send me a note about this, email

How long did you take to setup this
website?
I did it in 2 days. After reading about the number of SARS cases
increasing at an alarming rate, I immediately started researching
and gathering information from the internet, registered the domain
name and created SARS.ws
Why is the domain name "redirected"
to a bikesutra.com website?
In the interest of time and to save costs, I hosted this website
and domain name on a current hosting plan that I have. BIKEsutra.com
is another of my websites that I created due to my interest in
cycling and mountain biking. BIKEsutra.com
is also a non profit website. I like to think of it as "created
by passion" instead of creating it with an intention to
earn dollars. Same goes for SARS.ws.
However, if I do get some donations, I
will definitely consider a separate hosting plan for this website.
The benefits to you will be faster access and more space for
me to add other features such as online chat, mailing list etc.
Are you planning to add information
on other viruses in the future?
I have been asked this by someone and I'm very glad that they
think SARS.ws is useful to them. If (and I hope we do) find a
cure for SARS, I will definitely consider adding information
on other viruses. Anything to help inform the masses!
Are you scared of contracting SARS?
Definitely, yes. The fact that it has gotten so bad in Singapore
(4 people dead as I write this and thousands quarantined at home)
makes me quite jittery. However, I have taken and will continue
to take all the necessary precautions, for myself and my family,
especially my pregnant wife and 15 month old son. I believe that
doctors somewhere will come up with a cure soon, once they manage
to pin down the causation of the virus. On a happier note, our
new baby is due on November 13th 2003 and we very much look forward
to welcoming another member into our family.
