Read about Pat's bike buildup experience!
It was in August 2001 when it all started, building the bike up was intense because I personally spec'd the parts on it based on the advice I gathered, reading up forums and reading many biking magazines. The problem was mainly budget and I had to get a lot of different parts from different bikeshops, for example, tyres were purchased from RAM, frame from Mr Tay (at Tay Cycles), fork from Gilbert (From Hup leong Company), chainguide and brakes levers from KTL (the stupid chainguide was giving me problems), initially, the chain kept skipping from 1 to 3 shifts due to alignment problems), ..........wheww...was that period intense or what! When I think back about hailing a cab from one place or another to get everything assembled at Hup Leong, it really was both mentally and physically tiring.

After 2 months of testing and troubleshooting my chianguide and fork
problem, the bike was ready and was commissioned at its first ride at Pulau Ubin for 3-5 times launch from a ramp made by some downhillers...........wow, shiok man and now all I need to get lesson for jumping from Zerocool....due to bad jumping and landing ....duh!. Suddenly after a few days during a ride down some stairs at ECP, I got nervous at one point and thus broke my brake lever, which I had to get replaced and remain at home while my bike was under maintenance for another 1and half months before getting it back fully fixed!......Now the time to ride is back but it is RAINING SEASON.......arrrgh!

The whole process was both financially absorbing and mentally tiring but I
must say the feeling of 6" on the front and rear can absorb anything that it
is your way........going downhill and clearing humps is a breeze and now if I could just get my jumping techniques, bunnyhop and droppoff correct.......till then when I'm starting to learn from Zerocool will be another exciting and
dangerous experience.
