Our Mission
To become the biggest speciality directory
of cycling related links on the internet. We also want to provide
useful and value-added services to you, our users, that will
keep you coming back to this website for more information.
About BIKEsutra.com
In accordance to out mission statement,
BIKEsutra.com aims to be the web directory containing the most
comprehensive links to all cycling related websites on the internet.
We are adding new and newly found links constantly and hope to
build up the biggest cycling web directory there is.
Why should there be a website
like this?
As many already know, the internet is
a massive and vast vehicle of information. Being as large as
it is, it is often very difficult to find the correct links to
the websites that you may want. by having all (or most) of the
possible links on one website, it makes the time you spend on
the net more efficient, since you are able to find most of what
you want here, instead of having to trawl the net, so to speak.
BIKEsutra catagorises the information
and links in simple categories that people understand. These
categories can be accessed with one click of the mouse, without
having to sift deep into several levels of a website before finding
the link that you are after.
With our comprehensive internal search
engine (powered by Atomz) and meta search engine to external
sites, a simple search will help you find the information that
you are looking for.
Who runs BIKEsutra.com?
I do. Yes, it is run by one person only,
with my wife and son as the inspiration. It is out of my personal
interest that I decided to setup a website like this. It is also
that I wish to share the links and information that I have found
on the internet with fellow cyclists out there that I continue
to maintain this website.
Do you have any sponsors
for this website?
No, none currently, all costs are borne
out of my own pocket. However, it would be nice to have a sponsor
or two.
Who is the webmaster?
I am.
A little about myself. My name is Vernon and I live in Singapore.
I started mountain biking around 1995 and have been a regular
rider since. Actually I started cycling much earlier, around
the age of 4, when I started out on my very first bike, a tricycle!
I then progressed to a chopper (the one with the stick-shift
type gears), then to a (very heavy) taiwan made racing bike.
Throughout the years when I was studying in Australia, I did
not own a bike cause cars were relatively cheap over there. It
was only from 1995 onwards when I returned to Singapore did I
purchase my first mountain bike, a Marin Rocky Ridge. In 1997,
I upgraded to the full-suspension Joshua X0 by Gary Fisher. I
have now sold the Joshua in favour of the 2001 GT Ruckus, which
I try to ride every weekend....although my newborn and work take
up most of my time, I will definitely try to squeeze in some
time for mountain biking.
Why the name BIKEsutra?
I adapted
the name from the very famous Karma Sutra. I feel that this name
depicts a certain passion for cycling that only can be felt by
those who really love the sport. This deeper passion often acts
as a motivation for the continued participation in the sport,
even though many of us are buys enough with our every day lives.
Therefore, it is only fair that this passion be classified as
something of an "art".....the art of the love of cycling.
So if mountain biking be the food of love, ride on...
